Check Out our Last 2017 Winter Guard Performance!!!
Right now the Schurr High School Colorguard Team is in their winter season (Winter guard). We have two new rookies named, Myaa and Amber. They are funny and they fit into this family so well.Recently our Music Director, Antonio Castro, told us quote. He said, “Friends perform better than strangers, but family performs better than friends.” Sadly, in a few months when our seniors leave, we have to welcome new people into our family. The more time we spend together, the faster we go from strangers to friends to family. He was telling us about how three or four years ago, we did sharp competitions. (Colorguard isn’t a big deal in those competitions. ) When the program decided to go back into the Winter Guard Association of Southern California competitions, they expected to be placed in a low division and this way they could work their way up. Well, that year they went higher than they expected and ended up getting the gold. This year, we were expecting to be placed in AA (that’s the middle division) but we did so well in our first competition that we got bumped up to Scholastic AAA. We are so proud of ourselves, not only individually but mostly, as a whole. I love my family and if these last four months with our seniors pass quickly, I hope we make the most of them! I love my Guard family!
Update 3/10/17: Last Saturday on the 4th of March, We had our first official competition in our new division. We placed 3rd place! We thought that was amazing because two of our girls were ill/injured so they did not perform and we got a penalty for not having our benches taped ( we didn’t know we had to do that). With all of his things, we still got 3rd place. Although I’m proud, I know that we still have to work harder than we ever have in order to get the gold. I am proud of every single person in my guard family. From my fellow color guard members to our director, Antonio Castro, to every one of our color guard supporters, such as our moms and dads.
Update: 6/26/17 Our winter season had officially ended on May 24th when we had our Spring Show. The spring show is when the colorguard, drill, and dance team can perform not only their team routines but small group/solo routines that we make up. For colorguard, our captains each did a solo. Rocxel, Kaydi, and I did our solos as well. They only group we had was Kaydi, Rocxel, and Nicole. Sadly, my family was only able to record the group routine, our winter guard show, along with Sam and my solos.
Meet the 2017 Winter Guard!!!
